Drug alert issued for Nelson

Interior Health says counterfeit Dilaudid is being sold with a fentanyl analog
drugs
Interior Health is warning Nelson resident that drugs being sold as Dilaudid contain a fentanyl analog.

Interior Health has issued an alert for counterfeit drugs mixed with a fentanyl analog found in Nelson.

The alert warns of tablets sold as Dilaudid, or dillies, that also contain n-propionyl parafluoronorfentanyl.

The health authority says using the drugs, which are being falsely sold as containing hydromorphone, come with a high risk for overdose.

The alert issued May 15 is in effect until May 22.

Nine people died in the Nelson area of toxic drug poisoning in 2024. There were 36 total fatalities in the West Kootenay.
