New Denver has so far been spared from the multiple evacuation orders in its vicinity (outlined in red). But today New Denver has been placed on an evacuation alert.

An evacuation alert has been issued for New Denver as a result of the Wilson Creek wildfire.

The alert includes the entire Village of New Denver, along with rural properties surrounding the village and extending north to the Rosebery transfer station, and including the community of Rosebery.

Maps and addresses covered by the alert can be found here.

At this time residents or visitors within the area are not required to evacuate.

However, the RDCK advises people to remain vigilant and be prepared to leave the area at a moment’s notice. It is recommended to prepare an emergency kit and ensure preparedness, including moving pets and livestock to a safe area, in the event the situation worsens and an evacuation order is enforced. Part of your plan should include where you can go if evacuated.
