The Nelson Leafs have acquired two defencemen in a pair of trades.

Nelson picked up defenceman Bhavin Serown from the Chase Heat in return for forward Justin Campbell. The Leafs also added defenceman Memfis Burgeson from the 100 Mile House Wranglers in exchange for defenceman Nolan Wytrykusz.

Serown, 20, has one goal and six assists in 12 games with Chase this season. In 82 career regular season games Serown has three goals and 16 assists.

Burgeson, 19, is in his second KIJHL season. Through 24 games this season he has seven goals and one assist with the Wranglers.

Campbell and Wytrykusz are both playing their rookie seasons. Campbell had no points through 11 games, while Wytrykusz scored twice and had one assist in 20 appearances.

All three teams have struggled to start the season. Nelson is fourth in the Neil Murdoch Division, and 10 points back of third-place Beaver Valley. 100 Mile House and Chase are fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Doug Birks Division.

Nelson next hosts the Grand Forks Border Bruins on Thursday.
