Nelson police are asking for public assistance to investigate alleged sexual assaults near Art Gibbon Park in Rosemont.

A statement released Tuesday by the Nelson Police Department said officers are aware of social media posts that allege people have been attacked near the park and Nelson Skateboard Park. These posts have also been seen by the Nelson Star.

It’s not clear when the assaults reportedly occurred. Police say the suspect is allegedly a six-foot-three male with blonde hair, “a stronger build,” and may be in his mid-20s.

Insp. Kris Rice said in the statement that the department has not yet received any formal reports but any victims and witnesses are encouraged to speak with officers.

“We believe you,” said Rice. “Our officers are trained in trauma-informed practice and are here to support you through the reporting process.”

The department can be reached at 250-354-3919 or anonymously via Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477. The file number is 2024-1685.
