The Nelson Star has received two nominations from the Jack Webster Foundation's provincial journalism awards.

Editor-Reporter Tyler Harper has been nominated in the category of Best News Reporting of the Year for print and digital media for his ongoing coverage of homelessness and the toxic drug crisis in Nelson.

Harper was also nominated in the category of Excellence in Community Reporting for his story "Before he died, Nelson’s Michael Guy relied on a now-closed support centre."

Nelson-based veteran journalist Bob Keating has also been nominated for his work on a CBC story.

Keating's piece "A River Shared," which examines the history and renegotiation of the Columbia River Treaty, is up for Excellence in Feature Reporting for radio-audio media.

The 38th annual Webster Awards, which are considered the top journalism honours in B.C., will be handed out Oct. 28 at a ceremony in Vancouver.
