A team of golfers from Granite Pointe have captured the prestigious Boyd Haddad trophy.

Granite Pointe Golf Course hosted the tournament last weekend, and saw its 16 athletes post the low scores in both the Boyd side (gross score) at 20-under par and on the Haddad side (net score) at 22 under.

The Boyd team included Jeff Langin, AJ Cooper, Nick Kennedy, Harv Goodwin, Greg Mufford, Luke Jansma, Rob Little and Khai Barth. The Haddad team meanwhile was Fred Thomson, Ron Van Zanden, Dennis Langlois, Howie Ridge, Bob Hall, Rex Scarbo, Jim Goruk and Mike Barbari.

Kootenay golf courses have contested the event's Boyd side annually since 1937, while the Haddad event began in 1979. Other teams included Creston, Balfour, Castlegar, Kimberley, Birchbank Trail, Cranbrook and Fernie.

Granite Pointe had finished runner-up in Boyd at the last four tournaments, but used home-course advantage to win the trophy for the first time in 24 years. The team last took the Haddad trophy in 2014.

Creston finished eight strokes back of Granite Pointe on the Boyd side, while Balfour finished second place on Haddad at 17 under.
