Nelson figure skaters win 3 gold at Kootenay regionals

The Nelson Skating Club captured three gold medals at the Kootenay Regional Championships in Creston.

Aili Brackett, Milo Jarvis and Jen McNutt each finished first at the event, which ran Feb. 16 to 18.

Brackett scored 25.50 points to win gold in juvenile women, while Jarvis finished first in juvenile men. McNutt meanwhile was first place in adult gold free skate.

Brackett also won a silver in Star 7, and Jarvis took silver in Star 5 artistic.

Vienna Ferguson earned silver in Star 4-5 dance and bronze in Star 4 elements, Tiia Brackett won bronze in Star 8-9 dance, Rebekah Profili finished third in Star 4-5 dance, and Taylor Singer won bronze in Star 9.

Kailee Stewart, Aili Brackett and Jarvis were also named to the Kootenay team ahead of the SuperSeries Final in Kelowna in March. There are only 10 skaters selected based on their performances this year. .

Jarvis and Aili Brackett were also awarded plaques for the highest total points within the region for the season.
