Nelson Leafs lose first two games of series against Beaver Valley

The Nelson Leafs are down 2-0 in the first round of the KIJHL playoffs.

Nelson opened the post-season Friday in Fruitvale with a 3-0 loss to the Nitehawks.

Connor Stojan made 26 saves in net for Beaver Valley, with goals from Boris Hristov, Jonas Bourchier and Roan Crowe.

Ryder Gregga got the start in net for the Leafs and finished with 36 saves.

The Leafs broke through one night later but still lost 3-2.

Beau Manegre, Ryan Neufeld and Crowe each scored for the Nitehawks, with Stojan stopping 36 shots.

Gregga finished with 40 saves, while Memfis Burgeson and Tyson Ziegler each scored.

Nelson hosts Game 3 on Monday and Game 4 on Tuesday. If necessary, Game 5 is March 7 in Fruitvale, Game 6 would go March 8 in Nelson, and a Game 7 would be played March 10 in Fruitvale.
