That's where the knowledgeable team at Snowpack Outdoor Experience comes in. A destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking high-quality gear and apparel for decades, the store offers a curated selection of brands like Patagonia, Merrell, Fjällräven and Salomon.

Co-owners Jill Winters and Lori Comishintook over the business in 2006 from the Elliott family, who had operated it for two decades. Originally a small shop on Victoria Street, Snowpack has since expanded into a two-floor retail space on Baker Street. 

“I love outdoor activities, hiking, mountain biking, skiing and I enjoy helping our customers have fun, successful adventures," Winters says. 

“We cater to the outdoorsy travel crowd,” she adds. "Our products are primarily outdoor clothing and footwear, multi-use items that you can wear everywhere."

Snowpack distinguishes itself by offering a huge variety of Patagonia clothing and outerwear as well as other quality outdoor brands.  . This unique small town, family run storeattracts a diverse clientele, from weekend warriors to frequent travellers, all seeking reliable gear for their adventures.

Beyond retail, Snowpack is committed to the local community. The store sponsors the annual Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour stop in Nelson, a tradition that has been ongoing for more than 40 years.

"It's a major event every year, with sold-out audiences and we've been part of it for many years,” Winters says. 

The store also supports various local initiatives, including the hospital foundation, sports fundraisers, and community events like the Road Kings car show,, reflecting its commitment to giving back. "We always like to donate to as many requests as possible from community members that come through our doors asking for fundraising help for their local event," says Winters.
