When Micah and Karen Pilipishen founded Micah's Plumbing in 2013, they never set out to build a large scale business. Micah was a plumber who worked from a van, took on jobs and did what he did best – fixing pipes and solving problems.

But over the years, demand grew and so did the company. Today, Micah’s Plumbing, Heating and Cooling is a major player in multi-unit commercial services, with a growing team, expanded expertise and a new business partner to help steer the ship.

That shift wasn’t accidental. It was the result of a deliberate effort to scale up, take on larger contracts and refine the way the company operates.

One of the biggest changes came with the addition of Jeff Walker, who recently joined as a co-owner. Walker, a longtime employee, had already proven his value in the field. Since becoming a partner, he's helped strengthen the company's leadership and ensure the right people are at the helm as they move into larger-scale projects.

“We wanted to take some weight off ourselves and expand,” Pilipishen says. “Jeff was the right person to help us do that.”

That expansion has been significant. The company has transitioned into multi-unit commercial work, landing contracts with three major companies in the region. It’s a shift that required restructuring – more staff, clearer roles and a refined approach to project management. The result has been a more efficient operation, faster turnaround times and an ability to take on large-scale jobs.

But perhaps the biggest surprise has been how many people didn’t realize the company also does licensed refrigeration work. Time and time again, Pilipshen would hear the same question: Do you do refrigeration? The answer was always yes, but the message hadn’t fully landed.

“One day we went for a big staff breakfast, and the owners of the restaurant asked us if we do refrigeration,” Pilipshen says. “I said, ‘Yes – you’re the 10th person this week to ask me that.’”

With refrigeration now a bigger focus for the business, Pilipishen wants clients to know they offer plumbing, HVAC and refrigeration services all under one roof. Eliminating the need for subcontractors to help improve efficiency.

The journey from a one-man operation to a multi-unit commercial leader has been a learning experience, but Pilipishen wouldn’t have it any other way.

“This business has grown beyond what I ever expected,” he says. “But now that we’re here, we’re making sure people know exactly what we can do.”

With a strong team, expanded services and a clear vision for the future, Micah’s Plumbing is ready for whatever comes next.
