One of Nelson's favourite destinations for sweet and savoury treats now offers two locations to serve the community better!
Expanding from its Fairview location, L&C French Bakery has expanded to a new location at 390 Baker St. which boasts a larger kitchen that will feed both locations and allow the team more space.
“The kitchen at the Fairview location is about the size of a living room so it presented some challenges,” Lisa Lopez, co-owner and operations manager. "When the owner of the Baker St. location approached us about renting her kitchen, it was the perfect opportunity to grow.”

L&C French Bakery began in 2022 at the Nelson Farmers Market, where Lopez and co-owner Cyrielle Lagadec spent over a year selling their pastries before deciding to establish a brick-and-mortar presence. They initially baked out of A.M Radio Cafe’s kitchen before acquiring the building and starting their own French bakery in May 2023.
“We’ve worked hard to bring a little piece of France to Nelson,” Lopez says. “Everything we make is from scratch using high-quality ingredients, especially our croissants, which are made with the best butter we can find.”
Both locations serve a range of French pastries, including traditional croissants, tarts and macarons, as well as beverages such as No6 coffee and chai, and a selection of lunch options.
While the expansion allows for increased production, Lopez emphasized that the original Fairview location isn’t going anywhere. “There’s been some confusion – people thought we were moving, but we’re keeping Fairview open,” she says. “This is about having more space to bake, not replacing what we’ve built.”
Community support has been at the heart of L&C French Bakery’s growth. Lopez credits their success to the relationships they’ve built with customers. “At first, there wasn’t much tourism in our neighbourhood, so we really got to know the people who live here,” she says. “It’s amazing how everyone helps each other. We’ve created our own vibe, and we want to keep that going in both locations.”
“I want to pass on a little bit of our culture and create special moments around food,” she says “It’s really rewarding to see customers return, to watch families grow, to see our staff develop their skills and thrive.”
