Robin Cherbo is the first city councillor to throw his name in for re-election in this fall’s municipal election.

Cherbo announced his bid in an email to the Star on Wednesday. He’ll be vying for his fourth-straight election since joining Nelson City Council in 2008.

Cherbo finished third overall in votes among councillors in the 2014 election.

“I had almost decided to retire, but I still feel that I have more to contribute (to) the well-being of the city,” stated Cherbo.

Mayor Deb Kozak and the rest of city council, which includes Michael Dailly, Anna Purcell, Valerie Warmington, Bob Adams and Janice Morrison, have not yet declared for the Oct. 20 vote.
