A ladies evening of wine, food and friends will feature leading nutritionist and well-known media personality Leslie Beck.

The Nelson Star is presenting a women’s evening on health where Beck, who is a regular nutritionist on CTV News, Canada AM and writes a weekly column in the Globe and Mail, will share her extensive knowledge as a registered dietician.

“She’s a dynamic speaker with a great presence,” says Star publisher Karen Bennett.

Beck has also written 11 best-selling books on health and nutrition, several specifically about women’s health. With a practice in the heart of downtown Toronto since 1989, she’s helped thousands with her approach that integrates dietary advice with science-based recommendations on the use of nutritional supplements — no gimmicks or fads.

Bennett has been reading Becks’ column in the Globe and Mail for years. When Val Semeniuk from Kootenay Moon suggested Beck as a speaker, Bennett instantly recognized the nutritionist’s face.

“We’re fortunate to have made this connection with Leslie,” says Bennett.

Beck happens to have a close friend in Nelson — a little extra incentive to visit. The evening — planned for April 4 — is the perfect incentive to get out with friends and “Find Your Divine.”

“It’s about taking some time for ourselves,” says Bennett of the theme. “We all want to learn ways to live a healthier life and be empowered.”

Held at the Prestige Lakeside in Nelson from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Wine, appetizers and desserts will be served.

“It will be a fun and informative evening,” says Bennett.

In addition to Beck’s talk, local sponsors will have information booths to promote their businesses in the area.
