Nelson police have recovered the bicycle used in the armed robbery at Kootenay Currency Exchange this month.

In a news release, Det.-Cst. Nate Holt said it will be returned to its owner in the coming days.

However, he didn’t say how or where it was located or whether it has provided police with any clues in the robbery. “[We] are not able to provide any further specific details of the investigation at this point,” he said.

He said the department thanks the public for all of the information it has received on the robbery to date and encourages people to contact them or Crime Stoppers with any other information.

On April 11, a man wielding a shotgun entered the currency exchange, fired a shot, and made off on the bicycle with an undisclosed amount of cash.

It was the fifth armed robbery in West Kootenay since November. Although police have not stated that they are all connected, the suspect’s description is consistent.
