The Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation held its fundraising golf tournament on Sunday at Granite Pointe Golf Course. Eighty golfers took part in the scramble tournament with perfect summer conditions guiding them along the way. The tournament wrapped up with the ball drop contest that saw more than 600 balls released from the Nelson Fire Department's ladder truck. One lucky ball found the hole and now winner Barb Francis will be off to a weekend on Vancouver Island where she will stay in Sooke at the Prestige Oceanfront Resort in a package that includes golf and dinner for two at Olympic View Golf Course, plus $1,000 spending money.
