The City of Nelson is moving forward with their request for proposal for the Civic Theatre as site visits were held this week.

City manager Kevin Cormack said that four people participated in the visits but is unsure who will be submitting proposals.

One was the squash/climbing club folks so they have a proposal in for an alternative use,” said Cormack by email.

The proposal for the potential downtown athletic club was presented to Nelson city council at a committee of the whole meeting this month.

In addition to the squash/climbing club, there were visits from two private citizens and someone from the Capitol Theatre.

“We will have to wait until April 17 to see if they put forward a proposal,” said Cormack.
