The City of Nelson is taking steps to fill the gap left by Linda Tynan, who resigned at the end of last year.

Frances Long has been appointed corporate officer, the number two position at City Hall. She also retains her duties and title as manager of legislative and administrative services.

The job of chief financial officer (otherwise known as treasurer), which Tynan also held, has been posted, with a closing date of April 8.

“We’ve moved different responsibilities to different people,” mayor John Dooley says. “We haven’t reduced numbers, but we didn’t have to increase numbers to accomplish our goals.”

Tynan has been filling in as acting administrator in Nakusp.
