DriveBC has added three more web cameras in the Kootenays, including one on Highway 31 near Coffee Creek.

The service provides a snapshot of the road every 15 to 30 minutes, although it was down this week due to technical difficulties.

Others webcams show the Kootenay Pass summit, junction of highways 3 and 6 at Salmo, and junction of highways 6 and 31A at New Denver.

Overall, the province is adding 30 new cameras this year, bringing the total number to over 200.

Priority is given to routes prone to extreme weather or traffic congestion, the Ministry of Transportation said in a news release.

The Coffee Creek webcam — once it’s working again — can be viewed here.
