RCMP continue to investigate a death related to a single vehicle collision on Highway 3 approximately 7.5 km east of Greenwood.

The accident happened on March 6 at 9:45 with Midway RCMP and Fire and Rescue responding. Initial investigation revealed the sole occupant of a 1997 Chev Tahoe lost control while entering a sharp corner while traveling westbound on Hwy 3. The vehicle left the road to the right, overturned and then crossed the road into the eastbound ditch before coming to rest.

The driver identified as 70-year-old Shiela Ann Hackett of Grand Forks. She was transported to Grand Forks Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Road conditions were slippery with some slush and light snow falling at the time. Police would like to remind motorists that winter conditions are still upon us and to take extra caution and drive to the road conditions.

The investigation by West Kootenay Traffic Services and the Coroner Service is ongoing.
