Federal Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre will be in Castlegar and Trail today (July 13).

The opposition leader is holding a meet and greet in Trail at The Riverbelle (1350 Esplanade Ave.). The event starts at 12:45 p.m. with doors opening 30 minutes prior.

The event is open to everyone in the community, not just Conservative Party members.

Later in the afternoon, Poilievre will tour the Kalesnikoff Lumber Mass Timber facility and speak with workers.

Yesterday Poilievre was in Penticton where he promised a number of measures that he said would address housing affordability issues, including cutting the carbon tax and reducing income taxes as well as balancing the budget to go after inflation.

To address the lack of housing in the nation, he said that Conservatives would sell off federal land and buildings and then cut the bureaucracy involved in getting building permits to make Canada the fastest place to get one.
