On May 14, 2024, Creston RCMP conducted a high-risk search warrant for the third time at a known residence on the 1800 block of Ash Street in Creston.

The subject residence had two previous search warrants conducted on it.

“This week, the search warrant was executed with the assistance of the Southeast District Containment Team, the RCMP Police Dog Service, and the South East District Emergency Response Team,” according to Corporal Brett Urano of the RCMP. “These specialized units helped mitigate risks to public and police safety.”

Officers arrested two people from inside the residence, who were later released pending further investigation. Evidence of alleged offences will be forwarded to the British Columbia Prosecution Service for consideration of appropriate charges at their discretion.

Police located over 500 grams of illicit drugs, including heroin, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. Officers also located a firearm, cash and packing consistent with drug trafficking.

“Our officers did amazing work on preventing these drugs from hitting our streets,” says S/Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk, Creston Detachment Commander. “We are working hard at targeting these traffickers and are making significant gains in dismantling the local drug trade.

“To those who continue to partake in these activities locally – let me assure you, we will not relent and will continue to focus on disrupting your criminal activities in the best interests of the good people of the Creston Valley.”

Anyone with information of suspected illicit substance trafficking or any crime is asked to reach out to the local Detachment by calling 250-428-9313 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477.

Earlier this year, in February, police conducted a search warrant at the same address on Ash Street in Creston, for suspected drug trafficking. Frontline officers were again supported by the Southeast District Emergency Response and Containment Teams for the operation.

At that time, officers arrested the occupants of the residence without incident and conducted a search of the residence. The search yielded significant amounts of illicit drugs, cash, and evidence related to drug trafficking.

And before that, from December 20, 2023, through January 12, 2024, the Creston RCMP carried out the execution of multiple Search Warrants and high-risk arrests in support of a “local prolific offender management project” and as part of targeted investigations against individuals known to be committing criminal offences in the Creston Valley.

The search warrants were executed at multiple locations including addresses on; Ash Street, HWY 3 / HWY 3A, Canyon-Lister Rd and Leadville Forest Service Rd.

Multiple arrests were made as a result of this project.
