Nelson bylaw officer Fred Thomson will be out re-calibrating the city's parking meters this weekend, in preparation for a city council-mandated fee hike. By Monday morning, an hour of time on a meter will cost $1 instead of $0.50. The extra funds will be used to cover budget shortfalls in the city's transit and road paving departments.
