Riparian habitat along Lemon Creek will undergo restoration following a $120,000 grant awarded by Columbia Basin Trust.

The Trust announced Thursday it was handing out funding for small-scale ecosystem enhancement projects. The Lemon Creek project will be handled by the Slocan Lake Stewardship Society.

Three other local recipients were announced.

The Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society will use $45,247 to create an inventory of and treat aquatic invasive species in the Kootenay River drainage.

Friends of Kootenay Lake will restore and enhance 0.52 hectares of wetland and riparian habitat at Sunshine Bay Regional Park in Harrop with $25,000.

Slocan River Streamkeepers will also receive $20,805 to plant native trees and install bird boxes at the Walter Clough Wildlife Sanctuary.
