Election 2015: Cannings wins South Okanagan-West Kootenay

New Democrat Dick Cannings has won, with Liberal Connie Denesiuk finishing second.

New Democrat Dick Cannings will be the first MP of the new riding of South Okanagan-West Kootenay.

With all 276 polls reporting, Cannings had 24,823 votes, while Conservative Marshall Neufeld had 19,894, Liberal Connie Denesiuk had 18,727, the Green Party’s Samantha Troy has 2,851, and independent Brian Gray has 432.

Earlier in the evening, Denesiuk and Neufeld each briefly held the lead.

Turnout was 73.6 per cent: 66,727 of the 90,694 registered voters cast ballots.
