UPDATED: Just one house under evacuation order in Slocan Valley

The Regional District of Central Kootenay has declared a State of Local Emergency and an Evacuation Order for properties in the Slocan Valley following flooding due to a continued rise of the Slocan River.

An updated map of the evacuation area can be found below.

Several sections of Slocan Valley West Road have meanwhile been submerged. A flood watch remains in place for the Slocan River, with the river having reached or exceeded the 20-year return level. All but one property however has been put on evacuation alert following water level monitoring and infrastructure improvements Friday.

The evacuation order has been issued for the following properties:

• 3750 Little Slocan S Road

• 4010 Passmore Lower Road

• 4003 Passmore Lower Road

• 3970 Indian Pt Road

• 4026 Indian Pt Road

• 3801 Arrow Road

• 3305 Koch Siding

Residents are required to leave the affected area immediately and report to the reception centre at the Passmore Fire Hall 3725 Hwy 6.

Access to the Evacuation Order Area is being controlled.
