At about 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, Nelson Fire and Rescue Services responded to a report of a fire in the mini-mall in the 600 block of Front Street in Nelson.
“Upon arrival of the first engine, heavy smoke was witnessed flowing from the rear of the building,” a fire department news release states. “After establishing a water source at a nearby hydrant, the first arriving crew’s primary objective was to pressurize the adjacent businesses to prevent fire spread along the length of the single-story mini mall.”
The crew was successful in containing the fire to the business of origin and stopping its spread.
There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Twenty-one firefighters responded to the incident with two fire engines, one ladder truck, one command truck and one utility vehicle.
