A home in the 2500 block of Granite Road in Blewett was partially destroyed by a fire on Friday night.

A news release from Nelson Fire and Rescue Services states that they, along with the Blewett and Beasley fire departments, arrived to find “an aggressive fire” in the carport, on the second floor, and through the roof.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. Damage is estimated at $350,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

“All services involved in the fire would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to ensure that they have working smoke alarms in their homes,” the news release states.

Several online funding campaigns have been set up to assist residents of the house who lost most of their belongings.
