First water restrictions of summer take effect in Nelson

The Level 1 restrictions apply to watering private property

The City of Nelson has issued level one water restrictions in response to increased outdoor usage.

The city’s restrictions, which take effect Wednesday, mean residents can only water lawns using sprinklers or irrigation systems at specific times and days depending on their address.

For addresses with even numbers, watering can only be done Wednesdays and Saturdays between 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Odd addresses meanwhile can water at the same times on Thursdays and Sundays.

All residents can continue to water trees, shrubs, vegetables and flowers using a sprinkler every day between 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Watering can be done at any time using a hose with a shut-off nozzle or a drip irrigation system.
