On Tuesday, police responded to a report of a woman’s sandal falling from atop Nelson’s orange bridge from a motorist passing by.
When officers arrived, they found an emotionally distraught woman perched and walking along the top of the bridge.
The fire department was called to the scene to help with their ladder truck. The Nelson police boat was also deployed.
After lengthy and successful negotiations by police, the woman agreed to be brought to safety by the fire department. She was taken to hospital for further assessment.
