The plaque in Cottonwood Falls park marking the tenth anniversary of Nelson’s sister city relationship with Shuzenji, Japan (now part of Izushi), which was accidentally broken in May, has been repaired and replaced.

Local stone sculptor Patrick Doratti, seen here, did the work. “We have pinned the pedestals and plaque to the base so that this unfortunate accident will not happen again,” says Bruce Walgren, president of the Nelson-Izushi Friendship Society.
