Jonathon Heatlie wins Salmo council byelection

Heatlie replaces Todd Wallace, who stepped down for health reasons

Jonathon Heatlie will return to Salmo Council after winning a byelection on Saturday.

Heatlie defeated Tanya Forbes and Anne Williams after Todd Williams resigned in January due to ongoing symptoms related to Parkinson’s disease. Heatlie finished with 100 votes, followed by Williams at 33 and 26 for Forbes.

Heatlie is a familiar face on Salmo council. He previously served two terms before running for mayor against incumbent Diana Lockwood in October’s municipal elections.

He lost to Lockwood, but had to wait just four months before returning to council.
