Kootenay Bay man strips, gets busted for growing pot

RCMP say a Kootenay Bay man’s bizarre behaviour led to his arrest Tuesday and the dismantling of an indoor grow-op.

RCMP say a Kootenay Bay man’s bizarre behaviour led to his arrest Tuesday and the dismantling of an indoor grow-op.

Creston Staff Sgt. Gord Stewart says they responded to a call in the 600 block of Riondel Road on Tuesday from people worried about the man’s “erratic” behaviour.

When they arrived, the 27-year-old “came outside and began to remove his clothing while talking in a nonsensical manner.”

He invited police into his home, where officers noticed signs of a marijuana grow-op. He was arrested and taken to the Creston detachment.

“On the way, he compounded his troubles by damaging the police vehicle,” Stewart says.

RCMP obtained a warrant and seized 122 plants and growing equipment from the home. The man was released to a relative and faces a court date on charges including drug production and mischief.
