Kootenay Lake Hospital has temporarily restricted visitors on the third floor medical unit due to the spread of COVID-19.

Interior Health said Friday that less than 10 patient cases and that visitor restrictions to the third floor will last until Monday.

An Interior Health spokesperson emphasized that this does not constitute an outbreak and that essential visitors, including visits for palliative care patients, are not restricted.

The restriction follows an outbreak at Castlegar’s long-term care facility Talarico Place that ended Thursday. Two people died while 36 residents were infected.
