Man arrested in slashing incident

A Boswell man is charged with robbery and assault with a weapon after slashing a man with a knife twice behind the Hume Hotel on Monday night.

Nelson police say the incident around 8:45 p.m. began when the suspect stole a can of beer from the victim.

“The suspect pulled out a folding knife and slashed the victim twice, once on the right hand and then on the left forearm,” Sgt. Steve Bank says.

An employee of the hotel saw the incident and phoned police.

The victim suffered “relatively minor” wounds and refused medical treatment.

The suspect was arrested and held in custody overnight pending a court appearance today.

William Kennedy, 28, also face a charge of possession of a dangerous weapon.
