Last month was cooler and wetter than normal, but only slightly.

According to statistics from the Southeast Fire Centre’s weather office in Castlegar, measurable rain fell on 17 days, three more than usual, but overall precipitation was pretty much normal.

The average monthly temperature was 12.3 degrees, almost one degree warmer than last May, but 0.8 of a degree cooler than what we typically see.

“High pressure did on occasion dominate for dry, fairly sunny conditions,” forecaster Ron Lakeman says. “Most notably the 13th and 14th and again from the 18th through the early afternoon of the 21st.”

The warmest temperature of the month was 26 on the late afternoon of the 14th. The lowest was –1.6 on the 1st.

The only record set was a daily mean minimum temperature of 8.6 on the 26th. The high that day was only 9.9.
