More fee hikes on the way at City Hall

Nelson city council is signing off on one more round of fee hikes as its 2011 budget process draws to a close.

Nelson city council is signing off on one more round of fee hikes as its 2011 budget process draws to a close. In addition to increased rates for parking and public transit, the city’s development fees are going up.

Under the changes, an application for an amendment to the Official Community Plan would rise from $2,000 to $3,000 and a development variance permit would cost $900 rather than $800.

The largest increase would see the removal of a Section 57 notice from a property jump from $250 to $1,000. The increases are expected to bring in an extra $31,500 in revenue for the city.
