More than 12K BC Hydro customers without power in Kamloops, Clearwater, Valemount

Transmission circuit failure is to blame for the outage

Thousands of BC Hydro customers in Kamloops, Clearwater and Valemount are in the dark following a transmission circuit failure.

Almost 4,000 BC Hydro customers are without power in Clearwater along Highway 5, Lost Creek Road, Old North Thomson Highway and Valley Road.

In Valemount, about 1,100 customers along Highway 5 are also in the dark, including some of those living in McBride.

In the Kamloops area, more than 5,300 customers living east of Westsyde Road, along Paul Lake Road, Louis Creek Road, and Heffley Louis Creek Road are without power.

BC Hydro has crews assigned to the issue which occurred just after 3 p.m.

There is currently no estimated time for power being restored.
