Motorcyclist dies in highway accident near Nelson

A 63-year-old male motorcyclist has died in an accident on Highway 3A near Nelson.

The collision occurred on Sept. 18 at the intersection of the highway and Bonnington Road.

“Initial investigation determined that the motorcyclist struck an SUV, which was stopped in the passing lane, attempting to make a left hand turn off the highway,” an RCMP news release states. “It appears as though the motorcyclist was not able to stop in time to avoid the collision.”

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RCMP and the B.C. Highway Patrol are investigating.

Anyone who may have information, including motorists who may have witnessed this collision or have dash cam video, are asked to contact Nelson RCMP at 250-352-2156.
