Boat owners are being asked to stay clear of the fireworks zone on Canada Day.
On July 1 after 6 p.m., boats won’t be permitted to be within 200 metres of the launch area on Kootenay Lake, according to a statement from Nelson Fire and Rescue.
The launch area is at Lakeside Park at the heron statue.
Boats that are tied to buoys are required to be moved at minimum to near Chahko Mika Mall or the Nelson Rowing Club, which will be enforced by the Nelson Police Department.
