A Nelson drop-in centre for people at-risk of or experiencing homelessness has received a provincial grant.
Nelson-Creston MLA Brittny Anderson said in a statement Monday that the Coordinated Access Hub, located on 521 Vernon St., will receive $220,889 in funds from the provincial government’s $15-million Strengthening Communities’ Services Program.
The money will help the Hub add a full-time Indigenous cultural support worker as well as improve food delivery programs and provide social support services.
“The Coordinated Access Hub has done incredible work supporting folks from our communities who are experiencing homelessness,” said Anderson. “I am grateful that our government is providing funding to The Hub to continue the important work of building strong, healthy, and resilient communities.”
The Hub, a federally funded pilot project, opened in July 2021.
