A fire burned the first and second floors of a Nelson home and spread to another as well late Saturday night.
Nelson Fire and Rescue said in a statement it responded to a fire at 11:11 p.m. on the 600 block of Mill Street. When they arrived they found one building burning and that the fire had also spread to a neighbouring home’s roof.
The fire was put out shortly before 1 a.m. One person was taken to Kootenay Lake Hospital with burns and smoke inhalation, but was released later that morning.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Nineteen firefighters responded to the incident.
