Nelson Hydro is currently working to clean up storm debris and restore power after Sunday evening’s windstorm in the West Kootenay.

Outages include the North Shore from the 700 block of Highway 3A to Coffee Creek as well as Harrop and Procter, according to a news release from the City of Nelson.

FortisBC is working to return supply to Coffee Creek, which supplies the North Shore to Redfish Creek with an anticipated return to service prior to noon today.

A number of power poles were replaced on the North Shore last night with crews working until 3 a.m. Power should be restored to the majority of the North Shore later today, according to the news release.

The damage west of Six Mile is more extensive. Damage has been cleaned up between the Blaylock Estates and Nasookin Road area, and crews will be working on this line damage today.

Granite Road is without power, with expected restoration later today. Blewett Road and Sproule Creek are now restored.

The Grohman community’s power will be restored once crews have cleared multiple fallen trees and the line crew has access to the area.

Contract arborists are out assisting Nelson Hydro to clear downed trees.
