Nelson police swear in new officer

Cst. Alain Therrien became the newest member of the Nelson Police Department after being sworn in this month by Provincial Court Judge Philip Seagram.

Therrien (pictured above, centre, with Mayor Deb Kozak and Police Chief Paul Burkart) replaces one of the three officers who have retired or resigned in the past six weeks.

Therrien joins the department after serving the past four years with the Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police Service. He was born and raised in Saskatchewan and comes from a French/Metis background. His father comes from one of the original Metis settlements in southern Saskatchewan.
