It's been a while since we last saw a big dump of snow in the Kootenays and RCMP warn drivers to watch out on the roads.

With a forecast of five to 10 cm of snow forecast for our area, Nelson RCMP are warning motorists to take it easy on the roads.

On duty officers noticed a sudden change in driving conditions due to the weather and were already on the scene of an accident near Taghum on Friday morning.

The three-vehicle collision temporarily reduced Highway 3A to single-lane alternating traffic.

“This is a reminder for drivers to allow sufficient time to travel to your destination,” says Sgt. Dan Seibel in a press release. “Slow down to observe conditions, leave appropriate distance between vehicles as well as when stopping at intersections. Let’s get home safe.”
