Nelson receives $23k from province for emergency planning

The money will be spent on setting up public notifications and routes

The City of Nelson is receiving $23,000 in provincial funding for emergency planning.

The money, announced Thursday by Nelson-Creston MLA Brittny Anderson, will be used for public notification and planning for emergency routes.

“Keeping people safe is the highest priority and with this new funding, people in Nelson will be better protected with more public notification systems and emergency route planning so that everyone can get out of harm’s way fast, if needed,” said Anderson in a statement.

The funds are part of over $800,000 being handed out by the provincial government to B.C. communities for emergency planning.
