When the City of Nelson doles out its Columbia Basin Trust community initiative funding, it won’t be able to do so using its new Path to 2040 sustainability plan.
The Trust told council it’s not allowed to formally apply new criteria to the granting program without a public process.
Though the Trust offered to help council draw up a five-year community plan that would allow it to use the Path to 2040 as a granting guideline, council didn’t feel the process was worth the time this year.
“I just find it odd,” added councillor Donna Macdonald. “We just went through a huge community Path to 2040 process to get to where we are, and why we have to go through another community process to use this baffles me.”
