PHOTOS: Lightning strikes near Nelson put on spectacular show

They are dangerous and the last thing anyone wants during a dry B.C. summer. But in the hands of a capable photographer, nothing looks better than lightning.

We asked Nelson Star readers for their best shots of the storm that hit the city and surrounding area. One of the strikes started a fire on Elephant Mountain close to homes and Kootenay Lake across from Nelson, which was quickly responded to by local fire departments.
