City workers clear away the remains of several Lombardy Poplars from Lions Park Thursday. Five trees were slated for removal this year, because they are at the end of their life cycle and beginning to shed branches. More of the poplars in the park will be cut down over the next several years. They will most likely be replaced with oak trees.
