Once again the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) will use an online engagement tool to gauge residents’ support for proposed projects that have applied for Columbia Basin Trust Community Initiatives and Affected Areas Program Funding (CIP/AAP) grants.
This will be the third year the RDCK has used an online engagement method.
According to the regional district, the online engagement tool was very successful in 2021 with a total 8,435 entries, almost double from 2020.
The online tool is not a voting system, but rather a way for the public to provide feedback on projects they feel are most important to the area they live in.
Once the public engagement period is complete, feedback will be shared with adjudication committees comprised of each of the 20 RDCK jurisdictions for review and consideration. The committees then provide recommendations to the RDCK board of directors.
Projects and organizations under consideration include requests from 17 Nelson arts, sports, community service, religious, and historical organizations.
The public can give feedback on proposed projects for the area in which they live between March 28 and April 8 at 4:30 p.m.

Salmo and Electoral Area G will not be participating in the online process. Proposals will instead be considered at an in-person meeting to take place in April.
