A Rosemont resident who awoke to what he thought was a raccoon in his garage scared off a would-be burglar.
Nelson police say the resident found an unknown man caught rifling through the vehicles ran, with the homeowner chasing after him, but got away.
Several items were stolen from the garage and vehicles.
Police have also received other reports of thefts from vehicles in Uphill and Rosemont, including small electronics and change.
The investigation is ongoing and police want to remind everyone to lock their vehicles and not leave valuables inside.
